Welcome to Pondicherry, the Love and Latitude way

Day 1: Mumbai to Pondicherry via Chennai | French Quarter & Promenade

Begin your journey with an early morning flight from Mumbai to Chennai (ideally between 5–8 AM). From Chennai Airport, enjoy a scenic 3.5–4 hour drive along the East Coast Road (ECR), with glimpses of the sea setting the tone for what’s to come.

After checking in and freshening up, step into Pondicherry’s spiritual and colonial heart. Visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a serene Gothic church perfect for quiet reflection. As evening approaches, head to Promenade Beach for a relaxed seaside walk past the Gandhi Statue, views of the Old Lighthouse, and waves brushing against time-worn rocks.

End the day with dinner at Café Xtasi, known for its comforting pizzas and coastal vibe. Later, wander through the softly lit streets of the French Colony (White Town), where pastel homes and quiet cafés make the night feel intimate and timeless.

Overnight stay in Pondicherry.

Optional stops if time permits: Bharathi Park · French War Memorial

Day 2: Serenity Beach, Ashram & Local Culture

Wake up early to experience Pondicherry at its calmest. Start your day at Serenity Beach, best visited before 8 AM, when the shore is peaceful and golden light reflects off gentle waves.

Continue to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, a space of silence and inner stillness, followed by a visit to Shri Manakula Vinayagar Temple, one of the city’s most vibrant spiritual landmarks — don’t miss the beloved temple elephant.

After lunch in White Town, head to Chunnambar Boat House for a short boat ride to Paradise Beach, where soft sand and clear waters invite you to slow down and simply be.

Return to the city by evening for shopping at Mission Street or Goubert Market, and wrap up the day with dinner at Flaming Dragons, known for its bold Asian flavours.

Overnight stay in Pondicherry.

Optional add-ons: Auro Beach · Café des Arts · Coromandel Café

Day 3: Auroville & Slow Living

Today is all about slowing down. After checkout, drive to Auroville and visit the Matrimandir View Point, a symbol of universal harmony. Spend some time at the Auroville Visitor Centre to understand the philosophy of conscious, intentional living.

Enjoy lunch at an Auroville café or bakery, then return towards the city to visit the New Lighthouse, offering panoramic views of Pondicherry and the sea.

By evening, check in at Villa Ecotiva, surrounded by greenery and calm. Unwind, disconnect, and let the quiet set in. Dinner is best enjoyed in the villa, followed by restful conversations and star-filled skies.

Overnight stay at Villa Ecotiva.

Optional experiences: Auroville Bakery · Quiet Healing Centre · Svaram (music & wellness)

Day 4: Mahabalipuram Day Trip & Return to Chennai

From Pondicherry, drive 2–2.5 hours to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site carved in stone and history. Explore the iconic Shore Temple, the monolithic Pancha Rathas, the detailed carvings of Arjuna’s Penance, and stop briefly at Krishna’s Butter Ball for photos.
